Live Jazz at
Saros Bar & Dining

Valley Sounds is one of those events that reminds you why living in Melbourne is such a good idea. Free live music, great local venues, and a community that genuinely turns up for it. Every year it gets better, and this year we’re proud to be part of it.

On Thursday 2 July 2026, Saros Bar & Dining is hosting our own handpicked line-up as part of Valley Sounds 2026: a stylish acoustic duo featuring the smooth vocals of Dom Bagnato and the masterful guitar of Sam Tabone, performing live across two sessions at 7pm and 8pm. Jazz, swing and timeless favourites, in one of Moonee Ponds’ favourite dining rooms. No cover charge. Just book a table and let the night take care of itself.

What Is Valley Sounds?

Valley Sounds is a free live music festival presented by Moonee Valley City Council, running from 25 June to 5 July 2026 across a selection of Moonee Valley’s best venues. It’s supported through the Council’s biannual grants program, and the whole idea behind it is beautifully simple: bring great music to the places people already love, and make it free for everyone. We’ve been part of the Valley Sounds story before, and this year we had the chance to choose our own artists. We chose well.

Dom Bagnato: The Designer Behind the Microphone

Most Melburnians know Dom Bagnato through his eponymous menswear label, built over more than three decades with an unmistakable Italian-Australian sensibility and a reputation as one of the city’s most respected names in fashion. What fewer people know is that Dom carries an equally deep passion for music.

His vocal style is warm, smooth and deeply rooted in the Great American Songbook, drawing on jazz, cabaret and swing standards that feel completely at home in a room like Saros. He performs with the same intention he brings to his design work: unhurried, considered, and with a genuine love for the craft. Hearing him sing Tony Bennett’s I Left My Heart in San Francisco is the sort of experience that catches you off guard in the best possible way.If you’ve only ever known Dom Bagnato as a fashion designer, this evening is going to be a very pleasant surprise.

Sam Tabone: A Different Kind of Exposure

Sam Tabone is widely known across Melbourne’s creative community as a fine art and landscape photographer, with work collected internationally and a reputation built on images that capture light, space and stillness with a rare and disciplined eye. Less publicly known is that Sam is also a seriously accomplished guitarist.

On 2 July he steps away from the lens and into the duo, bringing a musicianship that is just as considered as his photography. His guitar work gives the evening its texture and warmth, the kind of playing that holds a room without demanding its attention. Together with Dom, the pair create something genuinely lovely: an acoustic sound that feels polished but never stiff, familiar but never predictable.

What to Expect on the Night

Picture a winter Thursday evening at Saros. The room is warm, the menu is doing what it does best, and across two sessions the sounds of jazz, swing and timeless favourites fill the space without overpowering the conversation. This is live music in the best possible context, where the atmosphere does as much work as the performance itself.

It’s the kind of evening that suits a date night, a dinner with close friends, or simply a midweek occasion worth dressing up for. The music is free, the food is excellent, and the company tends to look after itself.

Both sessions are free with your dining booking, and the format is exactly what we love about Valley Sounds: no fuss, no ticketing, just a great night out.-mosphere that Moonee Ponds does particularly well.
